2021, an eventful year in our beautiful events industry. We started the year by organizing virtual events. At the end of the first quarter, hybrid events were also possible due to the easing of measures. In the beginning, this was a bit of a search for many event organizers; successfully combining the dynamics of live and hybrid is a challenge. The summer was hopeful, physical events were possible again and it quickly felt like normal again. We were therefore able to organize a good number of 'old-fashioned' events, naturally under the applicable restrictions of social distancing, hygiene measures and the QR code. Fortunately, during this period we were able to experience that the public was really looking forward to it and the energy flowed richly through our building again, the applause sounded better than ever before and hands were finally allowed to go up in the air again for a while. Unfortunately, the year ends on a minor note, due to the current corona situation live and hybrid events are currently not possible at all. At Theater Amsterdam we mainly look at what is possible. Therefore, for inspiration, an overview of some events in 2021 that we were able to host at Theater Amsterdam within the measures applicable at that time. We look forward to 2022 and cannot wait to open our doors wide again to everyone!
Events 2021 in Theater Amsterdam
Bed cinema in the auditorium
In June, the auditorium was transformed into a bed cinema by Joep Verbunt, owner of mattress brand Matt Sleeps. Fifteen double box springs were placed in the 4200m2 Theatre Hall. From these box springs, visitors could watch a film lying down while we served food and drinks at the bedside.
Interactive management meeting
In June 2021, for the first time, 600 participants were present on our big screen at the same time, very unique was that all participants could talk Live with the host and also each other. Interaction 2.0!
Ajax Kick-off event 2021
At the beginning of September, on the eve of the first Champions League match, we welcomed Ajax Amsterdam and their valued associates to Theater Amsterdam. The event was all about a look ahead to the new season and with many seasoned Ajax fans in our team this was a dream kick-off to the event season for everyone!
Businesswoman of the Year 2021
This year too, Theater Amsterdam welcomed the Businesswoman of the Year 2021 event with open arms. This year the presentation was allowed to take place LIVE again, the presentation was concluded with a sit-down dinner in the BlackBox. The award for Businesswoman of the Year 2021 was presented to Janine Vos of Rabobank.
This Year Next Year 2021 by Group M
In November we hosted GroupM for the 10th edition of the 'This Year Next Year 2021' Event. The event took place in the Theatre Hall where the program was presented on a large screen. Afterwards, a drinks reception took place in the Foyer.
TedxAmsterdamWoman 2021
At the beginning of December, TedxAmsterdamWomen took place, for the second time the event was transformed into an online event. The 10 TED Talks and performances could be followed by the public via the livestream.
